Confession for today
Unity among Confessional Lutherans will never be achieved unless we boldly confess against the errors in doctrine and practice in our own synods and fellowships. But “confessing” requires “confessions.”
Though the specific issues have changed, the modern challenges to achieving Lutheran unity are no different today than they were in the 16th century. A few humble men, chief among them Martin Chemnitz, rescued the Lutheran churches from a morass of conflicting doctrine and practice that shattered the unity of the Church, by directly confronting these errors. The result was the publication of the Formula of Concord.
Unless a similar project is undertaken today, there will never be any hope of addressing the errors in our midst which divide us. The Chemnitz Forum was founded for this purpose.
The Chemnitz Forum is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit. Our board members are confessional Lutheran pastors from different fellowships who share a desire to unite confessional Lutherans under a common and uncompromising confession that directly confronts and resolves the disputed issues among confessional Lutherans today.
Among the issues we intend to address are: Ecclesiology, Church and Ministry, The Lord’s Supper, Worship, Law and Gospel Reductionism, Objective Justification, Church Fellowship, and the Role of Women.
